Guided Tour of the Current Exhibitions

We invite you to a fascinating tour of the current exhibitions at MASP.

Leva Beibutian, a well-known Petersburg sculptor who made many monumental works for our city, professor at the Stieglitz Academy of Art and Design, will present around forty works at the exhibition Heartfelt Harmony, which can be divided into two thematic groups. Sculptures such as Birth of Hayk, Chronicler, Nazeli and others are dedicated to comprehension of Babylonian, Assyrian and ancient Armenian myths. The works following the second line interpret the eternal themes of family as a source of warmth and goodness, as well as the life-giving power of love.

David Borovsky’s Lyrical Drawing exhibition will present the oeuvre of the outstanding Russian graphic artist, illustrator of Russian classics in the 1950s–1980s. The exhibition shows romantic images of the 19th century Turgenev characters, as well as expressive portraits of 20th century people from various areas of activity, including great musicians and ordinary workers, and intimately atmospheric compositions characteristic of the 1960s Soviet art. Visitors will also see a series of works created in 1959–1960 based on impressions from travelling in Britain, Denmark and Germany.

For the first time in Petersburg there is a solo exhibition of the remarkable Moscow artist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Natalia Glebova, who together with her husband Ivan Lubennikov belongs to the group of the 1980s innovators in art. Her paintings at the Life in Paradise exposition are kind of a lyrical tour through favourite boulevards and streets of her native Moscow, ancient Cappadocia, the Greek island of Hydra, Bukhara, Peterhof. Also presented are genre works reminding of biblical parables and poetic portraits of the artist herself, members of her family, friends and casual acquaintances.
