The exhibition project Friends Told Us: Live!, which presented works from the collection of the Museum of 20^th–21^st Century St Petersburg Art, was launched at the Surgut Art Museum.

The exhibition was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Paintings and graphic art works from the 1940s, created by Leningrad artists, helped to perceive the atmosphere in the city at the time. Among these are images of bombings (V. M. Sudakov), scenes of hard everyday life, be it war or labour (I. I. Kharkevich-Khrapovnitsky, V. A. Vlasov), views of the city (L. I. Volshtein, S. L. Zaklikovskaia, I. L. Lizak, V. V. Pakulin), and portraits of citizens (V. A. Grinberg, G. S. Vereisky). Life in the city on the Neva flowed as usual despite all the difficulties of wartime. Devotion to art helped to survive, to endure.
