Zeus and Europe. 2001
Retrospective exhibition of graphic artist and architect Tatiana Leonova (born 1949) is timed to coincide with the artist's 75th birthday. Leonova is among those remarkable individuals who developed traditions of Leningrad graphic school in the 1980–2000s. Exposition will include works from the last three decades covering a variety of subjects, and first of all on mythological and evangelical themes. Her ever monumental art pieces, even if small in size, with images from antiquity or Gospels are not a retelling of well-known plots, but reflections on the foundations of human existence: on the beautiful female body and the incorporeal effulgence of the saints, on love and motherhood, on guile and forgiveness. The exhibition will also include Leonova's expressive portraits and still lifes. And, of course, emotional, rich in colour landscapes, depicting the corners of St Petersburg and the Leningrad region close to the artist’s heart. The exhibition will feature works from MASP collection and the artist's studio.
