Mikhail Yershov (1901 – 82) is an artist of the Soviet era; his name is not widely known and his work remains undeservedly neglected by researchers. Meanwhile, Mikhail Yershov, father of the famous St. Petersburg sculptor (1945 - 2021), is an outstanding painter and a distinguished colorist, a successor of the traditions of the Russian realist school of painting. Landscapes created by him in the 1940s – 60s, fraught with subtle lyricism and lively charm, rightfully belong to the treasury of Russian and Soviet fine arts. The exhibition There is but One Brief Moment includes more than 40 paintings by the master.
