Studied at Moscow Secondary School of Art (1970–1974); the V. I. Surikov State Institute of Art, Moscow (1974–1980) in the Faculty of Sculpture under M. F. Baburin. Exhibited since 1975. Member of the USSR Union of Artists, the Artists’ Union of Russia (1990). Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2002); Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2007); Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2016). Awarded the Silver Medal (1995) and the Gold Medal (2006) of the Russian Academy of Arts. Lives and works in Moscow.
