Studied at the Art Studio of Chernovtsy House of Folk Art (1940s); Leningrad Art College (1950–1958); the Amateur Art Studio at the House of Medical Workers (1950s) under V. I. Suvorov; Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (1959–1963) in the Faculty of Theatre Production under N. P. Akimov. Exhibited from 1963. Member of the Association for Experimental Exhibitions (1974–1975), the Aleph group (1975–1989). Worked as production designer in Leningrad House of Folk Art and the Volkhov Theatre (1960s–1970s), at the Lenfilm studio (1968–1974); as an artist at the Gidrometeoizdat publishing house (from the early 1970s); in a design firm in San Francisco, USA (1978–1986). Taught at Leningrad Art College (1965–1968). Lived and worked in Leningrad (1950–1976), emigrated in 1976, was based in San Francisco from 1977. Main collections: Moscow Museum of Modern Art, State Central Theatre Museum (both Moscow), S. P. Diaghilev Museum of Contemporary Art (St Petersburg).
