Painter, graphic artist, theatre artist, director
Studied at Kazan Art College (1959–1961); Kharkov Institute of Art and Design (1962–1967) in the Faculty of Painting under B. V. Kosarev; the School-Studio of Moscow Art Theatre (1971–1976) in the Department of Stage Direction under O. N. Yefremov. Exhibited since 1969. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1983), the St Petersburg Academy of Contemporary Art association (1996). Worked as production designer at various theatres in Ukraine (1967–1971), the Moscow Art Theatre (1972–1976), the N. P. Akimov Comedy Theatre, Leningrad (1976–1979), the Experiment Theatre, Leningrad (1980s); as production designer and director in theatres in Astrakhan, Kemerovo, Severodvinsk, Tallinn, Voronezh and other cities (1980s–1990s). Taught at Kharkov Institute of Art and Design (1967–1971), the Repin Institute of Arts (1979– 1984), Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (1984–1988). Lives and works in St Petersburg (since 1976). Main collections: Museum of the Moscow Art Theatre, State Darwin Museum (both Moscow), S. P.
