Studied at Krasnodar Art College (1966–1970); the Repin Institute of Arts (1972–1978) in the Faculty of Painting under A. A. Mylnikov; in the Creative Workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts (1979–1981). Exhibited since 1979. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1982), IFA (1992), the St Petersburg Academy of Contemporary Art association (1996). Creator of monumental works for public buildings in Leningrad, Sayanogorsk and Krasnoyarsk. Taught at Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1987–1991); St Petersburg State University (since 2006). Lives and works in St Petersburg (since 1970). Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), State Hermitage, State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova at the Fountain House, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), State art museums in Kazan, Novokuznetsk, Novosibirsk, Pskov and Sosnovy Bor.
