Studied at Leningrad Art and Pedagogical College (1931–1932) under D. Ye. Zagoskin; the Repin Institute of Arts (1934–1940) in the Faculty of Painting under A. F. Osmerkin, S. V. Priselkov, M. S. Fedorov, M. D. Bernshtein and G. V. Pavlovsky. Exhibited from 1947. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (1940). Worked as an artist at the Detskaia literature (Children’s Literature) publishing house (from 1952). Taught at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1940–1941). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (1998). Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, State Russian Museum (both St Petersburg).
