Studied at Moscow Secondary School of Art (1962–1969); Moscow State Art Institute (1969-1975) in the Faculty of Painting under D. K. Mochalsky. Exhibited since 1972. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1976). Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2007), Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2012). Awarded Grand Prix at the International Contest for Young Painters in Sofia, Bulgaria (1979), Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2003). Lives and works in Moscow.
