Studied at the Repin Institute of Arts (1945–1953) in the Faculty of Architecture and in the Faculty of Painting (from 1947) under V. M. Oreshnikov and A. A. Mylnikov. Exhibited from 1953. Member of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1960), the USSR Union of Artists (1961). Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2001). Lived and worked in Leningrad (1945–1953), from 1953 in Moscow. Main collections: ROSIZO (Moscow), New Jerusalem State Museum of History and Art (Istra), Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve of History, Architecture and Art (Kirillov), State art museums in Kaliningrad, Kemerovo, Kostroma, Petrozavodsk, Saratov, Tver, Volgograd and others.
