Studied at Leningrad College of Arts and Design (1924–1928); VKhUTEIN – Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts (1928–1932) in the Faculty of Painting under A. I. Savinov and K. S. Petrov-Vodkin. Exhibited from the late 1920s. Member of Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1932). Worked as artist-designer at Lenzhilgrazdanproekt organisation and Lenizo cooperative (1931–1933); head of teaching department at Leningrad College of Art and Design – Leningrad Art and Pedagogical College (1933–1943). Taught at the Dorokhovo Village primary school (1922–1924); Leningrad College of Art and Design – Leningrad Art and Pedagogical College (1933–1943); Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1945–1967), head of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting (1946–1948, 1965–1967), head of the Faculty of Monumental and Decorative Art. WWII veteran, awarded the medals For the Defence of Leningrad, For Valorous Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945, For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.
