Studied at Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1977–1982) in the Department of Artistic Ceramics and Glass; internship at the Institut des hautes études en arts plastiques, Paris (1990). Exhibited since 1979. Member of the Mitki group (1985), the USSR Union of Artists (1986), the Society of Painting and Drawing Lovers (2004). Author of the animated film A Tale of the Wonder of Wonders (1994) and co-author of Mitki- Mayer (1992) and Trophy Films (2004). Prize-winner of a number of international film festivals. Lives and works in St Petersburg and Tbilisi, Georgia. Main collections: A. S.
