Painter
Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1961–1967); the Repin Institute of Arts (1967–1973) in the Faculty of Painting under A. A. Mylnikov; the Creative Workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts (1973–1978). Exhibited since 1972. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1975). Creator of monumental works for public buildings in Russia and abroad (1977–2005). Participated in the decoration of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Moscow (1999). Teaches at the Repin Institute of Arts (since 1985), Professor (2000). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2001); Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2010), Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2013). Awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR (1979), the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2009). Lives and works in St Petersburg. Main collections: Museum of Moscow (Moscow), Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, St Isaac’s Cathedral State Museum, State Museum of the History of St Petersburg, State Russian Museum, Zelenogorsk Museum and Exhibition Centre (all St Petersburg), Kurgan Regional Art Museum, Kulikovo Field State Museum-Reserve (Tula Region), Shakhty Local Studies Museum; Pinacoteca Comunale di Ravenna (Italy), Art and Memorial Museum of I.
