Studied at Kazan Art College (1945-1947); the Repin Institute of Arts as an undergraduate (1947–1953) in the Faculty of Painting under Yu. M. Neprintsev, I. A. Serebryanyi and R. R. Frents, and as a postgraduate (1954-1956). Exhibited since 1949. Member of Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1955). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1988). Awarded the Order of Friendship (2010). Lives and works in St. Petersburg (since 1947). Main collections: N. A. Nekrasov Memorial Museum-Apartment, Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts (both St Petersburg), State art museums in Belgorod, Bryansk, Kazan, Murmansk, Novokuznetsk, Petrozavodsk, Volgograd and others.
