Studied at the Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering – Moscow Architectural Institute (1931–1936). Exhibited from 1943. Member of the Union of Soviet Artists (1944). Worked as an artist-designer, participated in the design of the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in Paris (1937), the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1939), Leningrad streets for holidays, Leningrad Palace of Pioneers (late 1930s), created political posters (1941–1944), posters for parks, theatres and cinemas in Leningrad (1948–1964); worked as an artist for the newspapers Leningradskaia Pravda (Leningrad Truth), Pravda (Truth) and Izvestiia (News), the magazines Koster (Bonfire) and Zvezda (Star, from 1948), and at Lenizdat, Sovetskii pisatel (Soviet Writer), Iskusstvo (Art) and Plakat (Poster) publishing houses (1940s–1980s), as production designer for the Kirov Theatre, the Lensovet Theatre, the Maly Opera Theatre and the V. F. Komissarzhevskaya Drama Theatre, all Leningrad (1950s–1960s), in the Boevoi karandash (Fighting Pencil) association (from 1958). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1980). WWII veteran, awarded the Order of the Red Star, medals For the Defence of Leningrad, For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 and For Valorous Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.
