Studied at the Arts and Crafts Workshop (part of the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts) and its successor – Petrograd–Leningrad College of Art and Design (1920–1927) under M. I. Avilov, A. A. Rylov, V. V. Lishev and V. N. Levitsky; the drawing studio of the House of Arts, Leningrad (1920s). Member of the Gruppa zhivopisno-plasticheskogo realizma (Group of Painterly Plasticity Realism) association (late 1920s – early 1930s) made up of followers of K. S. Malevich. Taught at the 131st (1928) and 96th (1929–1930) Soviet Schools attached to factories, the Children’s Art School in the Vyborgsky District of Leningrad (1935–1937), the art studio at the Leningrad Palace of Pioneers (1937–1941, 1944–1952) and the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren in the Kalininsky District of Leningrad (1952–1967).
