Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1947– 1952); the Repin Institute of Arts (1952–1958) in the Faculty of Painting under I. A. Serebriany. Exhibited from 1958. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1960). Taught at Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design – St Petersburg State Academy of Art and Design (1965–2014), Professor (1989). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2014). Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St Petersburg), State art museums in Arkhangelsk, Magadan, Saratov, Tula, Veliky Ustyug, Vologda, Yekaterinburg and others.
