Sculptor
Studied at Nikolaev Art College (1932–1934) under K. S. Ryzhov; the All-Ukrainian Art Institute – Kiev State Art Institute (1936–1938) under M. I. Gelman, L. V. Sherwood and N. A. Tyrsa; the Repin Institute of Arts as an undergraduate (1938–1941, 1942–1946) in the Faculty of Sculpture under A. T. Matveev, and a postgraduate (1946–1948) also under A. T. Matveev. Exhibited from 1947. Member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1946). Taught at the Repin Institute of Arts (1947–1948). Participated in creation of monumental works in Leningrad, Moscow and Ufa, on the Volga-Don Canal, in Mius (Ukraine), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Burgas (Bulgaria), etc. Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1975). Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (1992). WWII veteran, awarded the medal For the Defence of Leningrad. Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova at the Fountain House, State Museum of the History of St Petersburg, State Museum of Urban Sculpture, State Russian Museum (all St Petersburg), Magadan Regional Local Studies Museum, State art museums in Cheboksary, Kurgan, Nizhny Tagil, Perm and Volgograd.
