Studied at VKhUTEIN, Pg–L (1922–1927) in the Faculty of Painting under A. A. Rylov, K. S. Petrov- Vodkin and N. E. Radlov, and as an external student in the Faculty of Graphic Art under G. S. Vereisky. Exhibited from 1939. Member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1939). Worked as an artist-designer of exhibitions and public spaces in Leningrad (late 1920s–1930s); in the Experimental Printing Workshop of the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (1937–1940); chief artist of the Leningrad Artistic Glassworks (1950–1951); artist in the publishing houses Verlag der Kunst (1967), Verlag Volk und Welt (1969), Union Verlag (1975), Verlag Philipp Reclam jun. (1978), Insel-Verlag (1978), all – the GDR. Awarded the Silver Medal at the Leipzig International Book Fair (1967). Main collections: State Museum of the History of Russian Literature (Moscow), State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova at the Fountain House, State Literary and Memorial Museum of F. M. Dostoevsky, All-Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin, State Museum of Urban Sculpture, State Museum of Theatre and Music (all St Petersburg), Zaraisk Kremlin State Museum-Reserve, State art museums in Ivanovo, Izhevsk, Kurgan, Magnitogorsk, Petrozavodsk, Samara, Vologda and others.
