Studied at Yaroslavl Art College (1971–1975); Moscow State Art Institute (1976–1982) in the Faculty of Painting under K. A. Tutevol. Exhibited from 1984. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1984). Taught at Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema – St Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy (1986–2005); St Petersburg State University (2006–2017), head of department (2012). Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St Petersburg), State art museums in Astrakhan, Sochi and Yaroslavl; Lithuanian Art Museum (Vilnius, Lithuania).
