Studied at Vyatka Theological Seminary (1911–1915); Kazan University (1919–1920) in the Faculty of History and Philology; the Art Studio of the House of Culture, Vyatka (1920–1921); VKhUTEIN, Pg–L (1922–1926) under A. I. Savinov, A. Ye. Karev; at M. V. Matiushin’s studio (1923–1934). Exhibited from 1926. Member of the Youth Union of the Association of Artists of the Revolution (1928– 1932), the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (1932). Worked as an artist in the Detgiz and other publishing house (mid-1930s–1960s), in the Experimental Printing Workshop of the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (from 1939), as a set designer in the Drama Theatre and the Young Spectators’ Theatre in Kazan (1941–1945). Main collections: ROSIZO, State Museum of the History of Russian Literature (both Moscow), Peterhof State Museum-Reserve, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), State art museums in Arkhangelsk, Cheboksary, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Petrozavodsk, Tyumen, Vladikavkaz and others.
