Studied at Leningrad Civil Engineering and Construction Institute (1956–1962); Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1965– 1969). Exhibited from 1969. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1975), the Russian Geographical Society (2008), the Writers’ Union of Russia (2018). Worked as a craftsman at the Glavleningradstroi department (1962–1965); an engineer in Leningrad Institute of Standard and Experimental Design (1965–1969). Participated in Arctic and Antarctic expeditions (1986–2004). Taught at the Baltic Institute of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Cooperation, St Petersburg (2001–2006); A. S. Pushkin Leningrad State University (2006–2009); Professor at the Interregional Institute of Economics and Law (2009–2014). Academician of the Petrovskaia Academy of Sciences and Arts (2005). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2006). Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), All-Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin, Russian State Museum of the Arctic and Antarctica, State Hermitage, State Museum of Urban Sculpture, State Russian Museum (all St Petersburg), Shushenskoe Museum-Reserve of History and Ethnography (Krasnoyarsk Territory), T.
