Studied at Kharkov Art School (1924–1926); Kharkov Art Institute (1926– 1930) under V. D. Yermilov. Exhibited from 1941. Member of the USSR Union of Soviet Artists (1943). Worked as an artist in Leningrad publishing houses Goslitizdat, Pisatel (Writer), Detgiz, for Chizh (Siskin) and Ezh (Hedgehog) children’s magazines (1931–1939); in the Experimental Printing Workshop of the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (1935–1942, 1948 – early 1990s); in the Moscow Detgiz publishing house (1943–1948), the Lenizdat publishing house (1950s). Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow), State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova at the Fountain House, State Museum of Urban Sculpture, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), State art museums in Arkhangelsk, Kemerovo, Kirov, Kurgan, Kursk, Veliky Novgorod, Vladimir and others.
