Studied at the Art Studio of Sverdlovsk Palace of Pioneers (1950–1956); the Urals Polytechnic Institute (1957–1958) in the Faculty of Architecture; Sverdlovsk Art College (1958–1962) under P. P. Khozhatelev; Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1963–1968) in the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting. Exhibited since 1966. Member of the Gruppa vosmi – Lestnitsa (Group of Eight – Stairs, 1975), the USSR Union of Artists (1978), IAA (1990), the International Federation of Russian Writers (2005). Worked as an artist for the magazine Sibirskie ogni (Siberian Lights), the publishing houses Sovetskii pisatel (Soviet Writer), Khudozhestvennaia literature (Fiction), Vita Nova, Redkaia kniga iz Sankt-Peterburga (Rare Books from St Petersburg) and others (since 1957). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2020), Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2015). Lives and works in St Petersburg (since 1963). Main collections: A. S.
