Studied at Riga Medical Institute (1953–1957); the State Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR, Riga (1958–1962) in the Department of Graphic Art under P. Upītis, L. Svemps and U. Skulme. Exhibited since 1958. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1968). Professor at the Baltic International Academy in Riga, Latvia (1999–2019). Honoured Art Worker of the Latvian SSR (1988). Lives and works in Riga, Latvia (since 1947). Main collections: A. S.
