Studied at the I. Ye. Repin Republican Art College in Kishinev, Moldavian SSR (1958–1962); the State Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR, Riga (1962–1966). Exhibited since 1964. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1969). Honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2013). Awarded the Gold Medal (2016) and the Silver Medal for the Worthy (2017) of the Russian Academy of Arts. Lives and works in Moscow (since 1996). Main collections: Moscow Museum of Modern Art, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), State Russian Museum (St Petersburg), V. M. Vasnetsov and A. M. Vasnetsov Vyatka Art Museum (Kirov), Plyos History, Architecture and Art Museum- Reserve.
