Studied at the Evening Art School on Tavricheskaia Street (1930–1932) under S. L. Abugov and V. V. Sukov; preparatory courses for the Repin Institute of Arts (1932–1935); the Repin Institute of Arts (1936–1943) in the Faculty of Painting under A. A. Osmerkin, S. L. Abugov and M. A. Birshtein. Exhibited from 1945. Member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1945). Taught at Leningrad Art College (1945), the Art Studio of the A. M. Gorky Palace of Culture (1946–1949), Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1949–1979). WWII veteran, awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd class, and medals For the Defence of Leningrad, For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.
