Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1963–1969); the Repin Institute of Arts as an undergraduate (1969–1975) in the Faculty of Painting under V. M. Oreshnikov, and a postgraduate (1976–1979). Exhibited since 1977. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1979). Teaches at the Repin Institute of Arts (since 1978), Professor (2003). Lives and works in St Petersburg (since 1951). Main collections: Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, State Museum of the History of St Petersburg, State Russian Museum (all St Petersburg); State art museums in Kazan, Nizhny Tagil, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saratov, Sochi, Penza; P. Stradins Museum of the History of Medicine (Riga, Latvia).
