Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1964–1967); the Repin Institute of Arts (1967–1973) in the Faculty of Sculpture under M. A. Kerzin, I. V. Krestovsky and V. N. Sokolov. Exhibited since 1975. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1979). Taught at the A. I. Herzen State Pedagogical University (2001–2016), Associate Professor; St Petersburg State University of Technology and Design (2016– 2018), Head of Department; Jilin University in Changchun, China (2011–2012), Professor Emeritus; member of St Petersburg City Planning Council (since 2011). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2010), Academician of the Petrovskaia Academy of Sciences and Arts (2010). Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2004). Lives and works in St Petersburg.
