Painter, graphic artist
Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1968–1975). Exhibited since 1976. Member of the Association for Experimental Exhibitions (1976), co-founder and board member of the Association of Experimental Fine Art (1981), founding member of the Mitki group (1984), member of IFA (1991). Worked as a stoker at boiler stations (1975–1989). Co-founder and curator of the Mitki–VKhUTEMAS Art Centre (1996), founder of the Mitki group museum (2006). Twice winner of the Petropolis Art Prize (2006, 2013), winner of the Tsarskoe Selo Art Prize (2007). Lives and works in St Petersburg. Main collections: State Museum of the History of Russian Literature, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), Museum of Nonconformist Art, State Museum of the History of St Petersburg, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), Artistic Culture of the Russian North State Museum Association (Arkhangelsk), Novosibirsk State Art Museum; Zimmerli Art Museum (New Brunswick, USA).
