Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1945–1951); Leningrad Art College (1953–1955). Exhibited from 1949. Member of the Order of Destitute Painters – Arefiev Circle group (1948), the Association for Experimental Exhibitions (1974), the Association of Experimental Fine Art (1983), the Mitki group (1984). Worked as a musician in a folk orchestra (1955–1959), an electrician (1960–1961), a loader, labourer, polymer-vinyl paper cutter at Rospischepromreklama (food advertising works, 1960s–1970s). Main collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (both St Petersburg), I. Ya. Slovtsov Museum Complex (Tyumen); Zimmerli Art Museum (New Brunswick, USA), Pompidou Centre (Paris, France).
