Painter
Studied at Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1948–1956) in the Faculty of Monumental and Decorative Art under A. A. Kazantsev, P. D. Buchkin, A. K. Sokolov, S. A. Petrov and K. I. Iogansen. Exhibited from 1957. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1960), the Gruppa “Odinnadtsati” (Group of “Eleven”) association (1972). Taught at Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1960–2008), Professor, Head of Department (1988). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1984), People’s Artist of the Russian Federation (1995). Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2006). Main collections: ROSIZO, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), State Russian Museum (St Petersburg), State art museums in Arkhangelsk, Bryansk, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Krasnodar, Magadan, Penza and others; Kharkov Art Museum (Ukraine).
