Studied at Petrograd State University (1922–1924) in the Faculty of History; the Art Studio of the House of Arts (1922–1924) under N. E. Radlov, M. V. Dobuzhinsky; A. I. Savinov’s private studio ARTISTS’ BIOGRAPHIES 671 (1923). Exhibited from 1935. Member of the Union of Soviet Artists (1936). Worked as an artist at the Detgiz publishing house (1926 – early 1940s) under V. V. Lebedev, the Lenfilm studio (1932–1934). Taught at Leningrad Institute of Civil Engineers (1936–1941), Moscow Architectural Institute (1941–1944), the Repin Institute of Arts (1944–1946). Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), All-Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin, Institute of Russian Literature, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), State art museums in Bryansk, Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Volgograd and Vologda.
