Studied at Leningrad College of Civil Engineering and Architecture (1974–1978). Founding member of the group Zheleznye semechki (Iron Seeds, 1988), member of the Artists’ Union of Russia (1993). Exhibited since 1982. Works as a book artist since 1981. Co-founder and teacher at St Petersburg Printing Studio (2002), teaches at St Petersburg State University (since 2004) in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Higher School of Economics National Research University, St Petersburg (2018). Winner of the Art of the Book. Traditions and Search and Best Books of the Year competitions (both 2004). Lives and works in St Petersburg. Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Library of Russia (both Moscow), National Library of Russia, S. P. Diaghilev Museum of Contemporary Art, State Hermitage, State Literary and Memorial Museum of F. M. Dostoevsky, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Collection Museum (all St Petersburg), State art museums in Kaliningrad, Kazan, Khanty-Mansiysk, Magnitogorsk, Novosibirsk, Sevastopol, Vologda and others; Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Alexandria, Egypt), Berlin State Library, Saxon State and University Library Dresden (both Germany).
