Studied at the Art School in Novaia Derevnia, formerly the suburban branch of the Drawing School of the All-Russian Society for the Encouragement of Arts (1919); the Proletkult Studio of Worker-Artists, Petrograd (1920); VKhUTEMAS, Pg – VKhUTEIN, Pg–L (1921–1924). Exhibited from 1924. Member of the Union of Soviet Artists (1932). Worked in the Detgiz publishing house (1920s) under V. V. Lebedev; in the Boevoi karandash (Fighting Pencil) association (1941–1942); served as an artist at the Estonian Reserve Rifle Corps Club (1941–1945); worked as an art editor at the Estonian SSR Branch of OGIZ publishing house (1944–1946). WWII veteran, awarded the medal For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945. Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Tretyakov Gallery (both Moscow), State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova at the Fountain House, State Russian Museum (both St Petersburg), State art museums in Khabarovsk, Perm, Roslavl and Rostov.
