Studied at Leningrad College of Art and Design (1923–1928) under M. P. Bobyshov, A. A. Rylov and P. A. Mansurov; GINKhUK as a postgraduate (1925–1927) under P. A. Mansurov; the Repin Institute of Arts (1932–1935) in Further Training Courses under K. F. Yuon and A. I. Savinov. Exhibited from 1928. Member of the Krug khudozhnikov (Circle of Artists) association (1928), the Union of Soviet Artists (1932). Worked in the Experimental Lithographic Workshop of the Leningrad Branch of the Union of Soviet Artists (1938–1941). Lived and worked in Leningrad (1903–1941), from 1943 in Moscow. Main collections: A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Museum of A. S. Pushkin, State Tretyakov Gallery (all Moscow), State Russian Museum (St Petersburg), State art museums in Bryansk, Izhevsk, Komsomolsk-on- Amur, Kostroma, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Pskov and others.
