Studied at Leningrad Secondary School of Art (1949–1956); the Repin Institute of Arts (1956–1962) in the Faculty of Painting under Ye. Ye. Moiseenko; the Creative Workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts (1962–1966) under V. M. Oreshnikov. Exhibited from 1963. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1964), the Gruppa “Odinnadtsati” (Group of “Eleven”) association (1972). Chairman of the Painting Section of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1982–1986). Taught at the Repin Institute of Arts (1966–1972). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1984). Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (1996).
