Studied at Leningrad Palace of Pioneers art studio (mid-1930s); Leningrad Higher College of Art and Design (1941–1950) in the Department of Painting under Ye. M. Magaril and A. A. Gromov. Exhibited from 1965. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1967). Worked as an artist at the Detskaia literatura publishing house (1959–1965), the Graphic art workshops of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Art Fund (1950–1968), the Print- Making Studio of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Art Fund (from 1966). Art teacher at a secondary school (1950–1959). Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation (2007); Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2002). WWII veteran, awarded the Order of the Red Star, the medal For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945. Main collections: A. S.
