Painter, graphic artist, theatre artist
Studied at the A. Azimzade Art College, Baku (1959–1964); the Urals Polytechnic Institute, Sverdlovsk (1964–1965); Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (1965–1970) in the Faculty of Theatre Production. Exhibited since 1963. Member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Union of Artists (1970), the Italart National Association of Artists of Italy (1992), founder and President of the St Petersburg Academy of Contemporary Art association (1994). Worked as production designer at the Kirov Theatre (1977), the Maly Opera Theatre (1984), the Moscow Art Theatre (1989, 1991), the Maly Drama Theatre (2001) and others. Taught at the art studio in the A. D. Tsiurupa House of Culture (1979–1989). Honoured Artist of Russia (2009); Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2012), Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2019). Lives and works in St Petersburg (since 1965).
