Graduated from the Drawing School of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts (1902); the Institute of Civil Engineering (1914); studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1914–1917) in the Department of Architecture under L. N. Benois. Candidate of Technical Sciences (1938). Worked as an artist for the magazines Sprut (Octopus), Satyricon and New Satyricon (1905–1918), in the Sovremennyi lubok (Contemporary Lubok) publishing house (1917), in the Okna ROSTA (ROSTA Windows) group (1919), for Begemot (Hippopotamus), Pushka (Gun), Revizor (Inspector) and Smekhach (Facetious Person) magazines (1920s); participated in the creation of the first Soviet theatre for children in Krasnodar, together with S. Ya. Marshak (early 1920s); designed buildings in Voronezh, Krasnodar, Leningrad, Murmansk, Novorossiysk and other cities. Taught at Kuban Polytechnical Institute, Krasnodar (1918–1925), Professor; Professor, Head of Department at Leningrad Institute of Urban Construction – Civil Engineering and Construction Institute (1930–1941). Main collections: ROSIZO (Moscow), Peterhof State Museum-Reserve, State Russian Museum (both St Petersburg).
