Studied at Leningrad Art and Pedagogical College (1935–1938); the Repin Institute of Arts (1939, 1946–1952) in the Faculty of Graphic Art under K. I. Rudakov, L. F. Ovsiannikov, A. F. Pakhomov and G. D. Yepifanov. Exhibited from 1952. Member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1952). Taught at the Repin Institute of Arts (1953–1970). Worked as an editor-in-chief of the Aurora Art Publishers, Leningrad (1970– 1974). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1978), People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1983). WWII veteran, awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class (twice) and 1st class (twice), Order of the Red Banner and Order of Virtuti Militari (Poland), medals For Merit in Battle, For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945, For the Capture of Berlin, For the Liberation of Warsaw.
