Impressionists revolutionised European art; their method got broader than just painting and spread to other cultural disciplines. Impressionist composers created sophisticated works where genre or landscape elements prevailed. At this event, musicologist and composer Petr Ivanov will talk about the oeuvre of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and others, their love of harp, flute and con sordino effects, and about what was happening in this respect in pre-revolutionary Russia and the USSR.
