The artists Anna Zamula and Dmitry Shneerson have much in common, with all the differences in their oeuvre at the first glance. In the beginning of their creative path, both were connected with books. Anna Zamula graduated from the Institute of Printing Trade, and Dmitry Shneerson started out as a philologist, specialising in Spanish Baroque. However, archaic art captivated both of them. They draw inspiration from the ancient artworks. Zamula was captivated by the Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna, Schneerson – by the pottery of Ethiopia and Peru. Nowadays both are regarded as courageous experimenters, whose art pieces are characterised by vivid imagination, ingenuity and a special feel of material. Anna Zamula likes to paint on roofing felt or immortalize her still lifes in mosaics, Dmitry Shneerson dedicated himself to ceramics, making unusual vases, jugs and bowls. Together, these artists form a harmonious duet at the exhibition.
