At the lecture, Mila Dviniatina, a film historian, film critic, lecturer, Candidate of Sciences (Philology), will talk about several Soviet films from different years: Four Hearts, Cossacks of the Kuban, Faithful Friends, The Cranes Are Flying, Springtime on Zarechnaya Street, I'm Walking the Streets of Moscow, July Rain, Andrei Rublev. Dviniatina will try to trace one obvious yet not much discussed tendency: Soviet filmmakers, like Soviet artists, were deeply influenced by Impressionism, making films serious and difficult, light and vibrant, delicate and strong, filled with light and air, happiness and beauty.
