Point of View project includes tours that are conducted by experts from various fields unrelated to the world of art. They share their impressions of the exhibited works through the prism of their professional experience.
The meeting with psychiatrist Vitaly Vechkanov, working at the P. P. Kashchenko Hospital, is dedicated to the Nikolai Sazhin’s Antiworlds exhibition. We shall talk about whether psychopathology is necessarily reflected in the works of art. There is a popular belief that artists are prone to mental illnesses - is this true or a myth? Can some artists be diagnosed by their paintings?
We shall also dwell on the fact that a viewer's reaction to art is conditioned by the impact of an artwork on individual needs dictated, among other things, by the peculiarities of this individual’s psyche. Some works attract more, others less. What is the reason for this attraction? Does the psyche of the viewer enter into consonance with the psyche of the artist? Let's get to the bottom of it.
