Following the talk about Rubens, we should discuss Van Dyck. Two artists – closely related to each other, associates and rivals, –mutually enriched each other's from creative point of view. They occupy equally high positions in the history of world painting. Our lecture will be dedicated besides Van Dyck’s magnificent portraits to his paintings on mythological and biblical subjects, in which you can trace the influence of Rubens. The great master initiated eventually an international school of portraiture, his works will be copied, he will become a trendsetter. We shall together admire his exquisite art from the collections of world museums and the Hermitage in particular.
